A FRIEND OF JOHN MAGEE
I acquired the military archive from Overlord Military Collectibles; it was that of Dwayne Linton, of Herrin, Illinois. In late 1940, like John Magee, Linton crossed from the United States to Canada to join the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).  Both pilots transferred to RAF Llandow, Wales before joining 412 Squadron RCAF at Digby, Lincolnshire.

Posted to Digby’s nearby satellite station of RAF Wellingore, Magee and Linton became friends at RAF Wellingore, and Magee gave Linton a Saint Christopher medallion as a keepsake. After witnessing his friend and fellow pilot’s death, Linton was a pall-bearer at Magee’s funeral and a witness at the enquiry.
